In this workshop, participants will engage in a group activity to create ten rules for a well-functioning society on an imaginary new planet. Following this creative exercise, they will return to our own planet to engage in discussions on current human rights topics using discussion cards.
The workshop, comprising two group exercises and an energizer, lasts approximately four hours. Adjust the activities according to age and prior knowledge.
Group Exercise: The New Planet (approximately two hours): Participants will decide on ten rules for a "new planet" and subsequently compare them with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Optionally, include a presentation on the development of the international human rights system.
Energizer: One minute
Group Exercise: Conversation Cards on Human Rights (1 - 1.5 hours): Participants engage in discussions related to photographs taken by students from various high schools in Norway.
Show the short film "Which human rights do you use in your work?".
The Human Rights Academy has interviewed five activists about their engagement. The interviews demonstrate that human rights are more than just words on paper.
